July 16, 2024, 8:45pm, my cell phone rings, Unknown Caller.

My first reaction was this a scam call, or could it be the call I have waited for, since June of 2019? It was the call from the UMMC organ transplant center in Jackson, MS. A donor kidney had been identified for me. My wife and I had a game plane in place. We arrived at the UMMC emergency room at 11:05 pm, Sorry LSP and MSP, we may have broke the speed limit just a little.

At 8:30 the next morning the transplant procedure proceeded. I was back in the room around 5:00 pm and went home the following Wednesday.

First I want to thank my donor, my Angel in Heaven. For without my Angel, I would be more than likely still be on dialysis three times a week. I want to say to all in need of an organ transplant, Never Give Up Hope on Getting a Transplant. I went five years and six months as a transplant candidate, and was removed from the transplant candidate list in June of 2023. A very dark day in my life, but I didn’t give up. With the help of my Nephrologist and dialysis clinic, I applied to UMMC Organ Transplant center in, Jackson, MS and was accepted as a transplant candidate in February of 2024. I’m fourteen months now past transplant.

I had a few bumps in the road along the road to recovery but now I’m back to my normal life and thanking God every day. First, I want to thank my Angel in Heaven for being my Hero for giving me back my life, and pray for my Angel everyday. I pray one day I get to meet the family. Second, I want to thank the the entire transplant team at UMMC. Unbelievable team. From the surgeons, transplant team staff, UMMC nurses, UMMC specialist's, and the UMMC tech’s. The care UMMC showed to me, my wife, and my daughter was unbelievable, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Third, and this post would not be possible with out LOPA and the extraordinary work LOPA preforms to assure lives can be saved and the homage paid to the donor hero’s.

As said in this post, if you’re in need of an organ transplant never give up hope that your Donor Angel will arrive. God Bless All.
