Michael Garcia
Michael was a healthy young man when he made the decision to register as an organ, eye, and tissue donor.
At only 41 years old, Michael was unexpectedly taken from us on April 7, 2026. Despite the violent crime that claimed his life, Michael’s generosity continued to shine even after his passing.
Although he was unable to donate every organ he had hoped to, Michael was able to give the gifts of skin, bone, and blood vessels—gifts that will profoundly change the lives of others.
His donated skin may help a child born with a cleft palate smile with confidence or assist someone undergoing breast reconstruction after breast cancer. His saphenous and femoral veins may be used in heart bypass surgeries or to create dialysis access for patients who depend on lifesaving treatment. His gift of bone may help someone recovering from severe trauma or bone cancer regain the ability to walk, run, and live more fully.
Michael’s legacy extends far beyond the life he lived. He is a hero not only to the people whose lives will be forever changed by his donations, but also to those he has inspired to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors themselves.
Even in death, Michael’s final acts of kindness continue to bring hope, healing, and second chances. His light lives on through every life he touches.
