Quilt Row 4-Square 1-Terry Byrd

Row 4

Square 1

Alan Byrd was a devoted and cherished son, husband, father, pawpaw, brother, friend, teacher and coach.  Loretta, his wife, was his soul mate and the love of his life.  He was devoted to her in sickness and in health. His son and daughter, Toby and Niki, were his pride and joy.  He also had three grandchildren, Shyanne, Summer, and Tyler that were his reason for living, and a daughter-in-law, Deidra, who was like a daughter.  He was a devoted Christian, role model, and hero, especially to his three brothers, Michael, Keith “Skeeter”, and Lance, and their wives and children.  He was admired and cherished by a nephew/son, BK Hughes, sister-in-law, Cheryl Hughes, and a brother-in-law, Clif “Buckethead” Wheat and his wife Allison and daughter Karlie.  He was also respected and admired by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sue and Willie Wheat.  And last but not least, his parents, Alton and Doris who were so proud of him.  He touched the lives of so many people, both adults and children, as a teacher and coach at Bogalusa Middle School and Bogalusa High School for 32 years.  He had a way of listening and influencing people, children and adults alike, that is rare in today’s world.  One can only hope that he can continue to touch as many lives in his death.  Alan always wanted to donate his organs upon his death in order to help someone in need.  He gave above and beyond what was expected of him, especially when it concerned students, athletes, or family.  It was all about the children.  He read his Bible everyday and was proud to be a child of God.  There is no doubt that he is in heaven praising god with the angels, probably trying to start a baseball/football team.
