Golden Dufrene was a loving, caring, and wonderful man. Like everyone else, he had his faults, but he loved with all his heart. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who postponed his love of shrimping for nineteen years so he would not miss being a part of his family’s life. One of his greatest joys was when his grandchildren were born, they were his pride and joy. He was a very hard worker who did various jobs to support his family. In 1981, he finally was able to purchase a shrimp boat and work as a shrimper, which was his passion. He was also very devoted to God, Jesus, the Virgin Mary and his church. He did everything he could to be a good follower of Jesus. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and he paid his yearly dues to have a chalice made in his memory to be donated to a church who could not afford to purchase one. He was the type of person who always had a smile on his face and always looked for the good in people.
