Anatomical Donation, or Whole Body to Science Donation, is the act of giving one’s body after death to a facility for education and/or research purposes. This means a person can give a student a chance to learn.
Typically, donation authorization is completed prior to death by the individual.
All medical schools accepting in Louisiana have different guidelines, and may accept organ, eye and tissue donation in addition to anatomical donation. Please see the basic guideline information sheet, which has useful phone numbers, and the link to the DHH Bureau of Anatomical Services in Louisiana.
